Post Treatment Care FAQs

  • Your aftercare requirements will vary based on the treatments you are having.

Your Dermal Clinician will explain this to you after your treatment.

  • Some treatments will involve redness, bruising or swelling. Your Dermal Clinician will advise of any downtime before your treatment. If you have an event or special occasion coming up, please let us know when booking your appointment so we can ensure your skin has sufficient time to heal.

  • Sun exposure must be avoided after specific skin treatments, such as resurfacing laser, rejuvenating laser, hair reduction, skin needling and peels. Some of the treatments performed can make the skin more sensitive to sunlight and more vulnerable. We always recommend the use of an SPF, reducing and minimising UV exposure to all areas of our clients’ skin, as this has been proven to be the number one cause of skin damage and ageing.

  • Direct exfoliation on treated areas should be avoided for some time after a skin treatment; commonly, this is 5-10 days, depending on the treatment. Your Dermal Clinician / Therapist will advise you when it is best based on your treatment.

Pre Treatment FAQs

  • At St. Skin, we take a holistic approach that focuses on the long-term health of your skin. Managing conditions such as acne, pigmentation, rosacea, eczema, and psoriasis can be complicated, which is why we need to get to know you and your skin thoroughly before beginning treatment.

During your consultation, we’ll talk about your unique concerns and any health and lifestyle factors that may be compromising your skin and causing problematic dermatological conditions. Once we’ve established your needs, we’ll develop a tailored care plan designed specifically for you.

This process ensures we are making informed decisions about your skin needs and allows us to optimise your treatments from your very first visit.

  • The number of treatments needed depends on the complexity of your skin concerns. Generally speaking, 6-10 treatments will be needed to notice visible improvements in the skin.

Ongoing maintenance is also recommended for optimal skin health. It is important to remember that your skin is not static. Your concerns and skin type are likely to change and evolve throughout time, due to genetic, lifestyle, and environmental factors. Regular facials provide the opportunity to revise your treatment plan to ensure you are constantly working towards strong, healthy skin.

  • After your first skin treatment, you may notice your skin looks brighter, more hydrated and calmer. However, to effect lasting change within your skin and target your concerns, a series of treatments is usually required.

  • Preparation of your skin before treatment will be advised to you by our Dermal Clinicians / Therapists. The use of your cosmeceuticals and LED light therapy is always recommended, and ingredients such as Vitamin A-based items are usually discontinued 3 days before to reduce sensitivity. Unless otherwise stated by your Clinician / Therapist.
